About

TLR Coatings was founded in 2013 as a way to coat my friends and my own parts just to avoid the high cost of powder coating or to avoid having to paint our motorcycle parts every year.

We soon however discovered that because of our low overhead we could deliver a quality powder coating at an affordable price for people.

Today the shop has been upgraded to a bigger oven and better spray booth so that we can deliver an even better product in a more efficient, faster way then we could before.

We are constantly upgrading the facility to provide better work in a faster time frame. We also offer sandblasting services to make this a one stop shop for all of your powder needs.

Conveniently located just outside of Portage, MI we are just a short drive from Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, South Bend, Galesburg, Battle Creek, and Paw Paw.  We service most of south west Michigan and northern Indiana.

One thing I find myself saying almost everyday now, is that you learn something new everyday. Now that might be an old, cliche saying, but I find it to be true more often then not. The picture you see above is an air tank for a custom air ride system. The customer brou...

What you are seeing in this picture is a major upgrade to the shop. In late 2018 I started looking very heavily into how to creatively fund upgrading the shop so that we could produce more, better quality work. It took about 6 months but eventually I did figure out a...

On this vlog we are doing something slightly different. There is still some of the normal coatings footage but we mainly focus on a new tool we bought from Harbor Freight. As most of you probably know Harbor Freight tools are kind of a hit or miss thing. Some of them a...

Im actually in shock of how many new vehicles we get in the shop for  full service wheel coating jobs. Most manufacturers today offer a lot of options when purchasing a new car so the fact that we have done over 6 vehicles this year that are less then 2 years old is am...

This week at TLR Coatings we are rolling out of our slow season and back into our busy season. We had a couple major projects which included a full service wheel job on a beautiful 2017 Ford Mustang. The owner loved the car but not the stock looking wheels. So we help...

August 28, 2019

This Week at TLR Coatings we had a bit of a slower week. Not a huge surprise, as anyone in business will tell you August is one of those months you either attack and dominate ORRRRRRRR basically shut down for the month. Here we have been having a pretty good month but...

August 15, 2019

What a busy week here at the shop. The week started with an all out sprint to finish up a rear end housing and some rear suspension parts in a multi stage red for a truck build. The kicker, this truck build needed to be wrapped up by friday night so that it could make...
