For my first blog post I thought i would start with a pretty straight forward and easy project we did. My girlfriend was moving into a new apartment with very limited counter space and needed somewhere to put her microwave. On a Saturday shortly before she moved in we were at a garage sale and found this lovely little cart you see in the picture for a whole $5.
I brought the cart back to the shop. It showed its age but I knew with just a little work I could bring it back to life and make it look like new. I began the restoration by simply disassembling it and giving the parts a quick wash off with the hose. After letting them thoroughly dry I put everything into the sandblaster to remove the old 70's paint and get everything down to bare metal.
Once everything was sandblasted down to bare metal all the parts got a quick wipe down with some denatured alcohol and then it was time to make them look like new. For colors we kept it very simple using a graphite grey color for the legs and a mirror white for the shelves. After a short baking period in the oven the parts were ready for reassembly.
Overall the project came out great and even though we didn't get wild with our color selection everyone who see's it loves it. I love doing projects like this and bringing new life into old pieces.
