Putting The Shop On The Map

When I first got the call about doing these wheels I couldn't quite believe it. The young lady who called said she had a set of 22x14 wheels she wanted illusion purple. Naturally I had to ask, "what kind of car do you have that fits those?" She responded with a Dodge Cummins Truck. Ok, that question is answered, now the next question how the hell am I going to do wheels that big? This took a little thought because up until this point I had always just carried products by the hooks from the spray booth to the oven. However with these wheels they were huge and heavy. I could barely lift them out of the box to put them in the blaster let alone carefully carry them with fresh powder on them from the booth to the oven.

Luckily for me I had just happened to be doing a job for the guys over at elite fabrication. After a short conversation with them they agreed to build me a cart to hang the wheels from that I could roll in and out of the oven and not have to struggle to move the wheels at all. I had seen carts like this online at other shops but only really thought of them for large operations which we were not.

Two days later they showed up with a finished cart that worked perfectly for doing this giant set of wheels and still work excellent for us today with all our large project. The customer loved the wheels and they look great on the truck. And thanks to a couple of awesome pictures have even been featured on the manufacturers instagram page which gained us a lot of followers and in turn resulted in at least a few different jobs. All in all it was a great project to be a part of.
