Big Rear Ends

This blog entry is about one tough project we tackled. A customer came to us having already had some powder coat work done by another shop. He wasnt particularly fond of them so he wanted to try someone new. When he called us he needed to get his rear suspension coated for an up coming show. The problem being the show was in 10 days and we didnt have the color in stock he wanted. So we got right to work on the project in an effort to meet his deadline.

The toughest part of the project was the rear end housing. Im not sure if any of you have ever tried to pick up a 3/4 ton truck rear end housing but it isn't light and for this project he didnt remove the gears or differential which added even more weight to it. Making things even tougher was the fact that we had to do a 3 stage powder on all the parts. Because of the added metal of the gears and differential it took even longer to bake because there was so much more metal to heat up. Needless to say it took extra time to do everything on it but we pulled off the job in the knick of time and the customer couldnt have been happier.
